My external HDD WD my passport 500GB USB 2.0 has bad sector detected by other software (HDD tuner or something like that). it cannot be connected as internal HDD,
Can these bad sector be repaired by HDD Regenerator, or is required to connect the HDD as internal.

The current version of the product supports external hard drives directly under Windows. However, a better way (with a better performance) to repair an external drive is to dismount the failed drive from the external case and connect it as an internal drive, but this requires some skill in computer assembling.

Thank you for your reply, on openning my external drive, i found that it cannot be connected as internal, there is only the micro usb port, i have to bear the low performance.

Question – HDD encrypted by bitlocker, of course Recovery key is known, but unfortunately Microsoft repair toll is unable to fix error. Is there some possibility that HDD Regenerator will help to fix this issue?

Burned to disk, booted from CD. All okay, selected drive to scan, Prescan selected. Stopped at 2MB, 4500 sectors (tried 10 times, all the same outcome), ERROR HARD DISK NOT READY
Hard disk is 596GB Toshiba if it matters.
In BIOS,
USB device(Toshiba) set as Number one in boot order, followed by CD drive and then Hard Drive(Integrated SATA) as third
STORAGE OPTIONS in BIOS:
Removable Media Boot > Enable
Legacy Diskette Write > Enable
BIOS DMA Data Transfer > Enable
SATA Emulation > Native Mode IDE (TRIED LAGACY MODE TOO, TO NO AVAIL also has RAID option)
SATA 0 and 2 > Enable
Sata 1 and 3 > Enable
CD ROMdrive is SATA1 if it helps,
Boot Order(BIOS)
1) USB DEVICE TOSHIBA
2) ATAPI CD-ROM DRIVE
3) HARD DRIVE INTEGRATED SATA
4) BROADCOM ETHERNET

If you see break sector message, in many cases this means that your hard drive has a physical breakage (damaged logical card or disk heads) rather than magnetic errors on the surface. The “break sector” problem is related to blocking bad hard drives on high scanning speeds.
Please try to use version 1.51. Although version 1.51 is much slower than 2011, we have a lot of reports from our customers that version 1.51 can fix break sector errors, which cannot be fixed by version 2011.
If you still have the problem, then the hard drive should be replaced.

I created a bootable flash drive and connected HDD (laptop Hdd) internally to a desktop. Can i know what the 3rd option Regenerate in a range do and is it the same as the repair mode. I tried the repair mode but it seems to fail after somehours however the prescan option completed with a number of bad and delay sectors. so I thought of running the regenerate in a range option. It is now 24 hours with only 5mb completed out of 640mb, but the drive hasnt failed but reporting delays of more 5000, should i wait and will this fix the HDD.
Also i have 3.5hdd , which completed upto 89% on repair mode and then the msg of no hdd. I hve used a number of softwares and nothing seems to work.
The hard drive is detected in BIOS however i guess after reading this sector the drive somehow gets disconnected.
This is unrelated but if can help, I need to know if its possible to create a partition by giving the sector number of the disk. As i know the sector number at which point the disk fails, can i create a partition say from “0″ to 276,000,000.

hi i have a question
i have a maxtor diamondmax 22 hard drive.
my problem is when i scan it from sector 0 , in the progress it found over the 2 milion bad sectors
and scan is too slow
and when i use CHKDSK command it’s not work and says that drive is luck!

I have been ruuning hdd regenerator V1.71 from a bootable disc. It has been regenerating for over 6 days now. I started at sector 0 and in the course of 6 days it is showing 3471 bad sectors and climbing. I haven’t touched my computer I have just left it alone to do it’s thing. My question is this normal to go all these days without it going to recover mode yet? It is still flashing the green REGENERATING….sign and finding more bad sectors. I have a Toshiba Satellite A-305-S6858 Laptop with 8 GB memory on it. I just didn’t expect the program to run this many days and not one bad sector has been recovered yet. I just wanted to know is this normal for the HDD REGENERATOR Program, Thanks.

Hello MP,
Delays shows that your hdd has sectors with long access time. Generally, 1-2 delays are not a problem. Your hdd will work. Unfortunately, later the amount of permanent delays will increase and you should be replace a hard disk.
If your hdd is external, it’s better that you plug it as an internal drive. If you have delays under Windows, it’s better to rescan the hdd from a bootable regenerating CD/flash.
A hdd with big amount of permanent delays is actually failing drive and may cause data losses. Try to regenerate this kind of sectors with “Regenerate all sectors in a range” option. Also, the delays can be regenerated with “scan and repair” option, if the following both conditions are met:
1. Your hdd doesn’t contain bad sectors.
2. Your hdd has been completely scanned at least 1 time.
If you still have delays, such delays are permanent then the hdd should be replaced.
